Ceramic 73 x 53 x 40 cm – £3250 for Bronze Resin
This ceramic head sculpture was inspired by a short visit to the local village shopping centre, with my two toddler sons in cohort, and meeting the local bored and vaguely threatening teenagers hanging out in front of the shops.
The internal teenage divisions might be expressed with that split nose leading to horn-like triangular points, with the suggestion of some devil. The half closed eyes and backward falling posture hint at the (stereotypical) teenage preoccupation with appearing “cool” – not touched by passion or desire ; and behind that pose the sense of melancholy and feeling lost, confused and lacking a sense of direction.
