Ready 2012

Bronze Resin 28 x 40 x 40cm – £2500

Originally this figurative sculpture was created as a commission for a sports college in Northampton to celebrate the 2012 Olympic year.

On first impression, It represents a racer on the starting block: all coiled up and energies tightly contained in the body’s zigzag pattern of limbs, ready to be released when the starter gun is fired.

On second impression, the figure is static, forever tensed, focused and prepared – meanwhile connecting with the ground beneath, being on all fours, hands outstretched .
And as we are dealing with a sculpture, we will actually never see that next movement with its anticipated race – but only imagine it .
