Flying Couple 1 and 2 1998 and 2021
Bronze Resin 32 x 52 x 42cm – £2500
Sinuous outlines emphasise the flying movement of the upper figure. The negative space (air hole) trapped between man and woman is as important as the sculpted form: sufficient space enhances the bond.
The themes are equally sculptural as emotional: strength, support and holding versus flying and levity – gravity and its defiance.
The figures are interdependent:they need each other, are mutually self-defining, and experience their identity through one another.
This domestic sculpture has often been acquired by couples that wish to celebrate and cement their relationship at a special occasion.
