Against the Wind 1997

Bronze Resin 32 x 22 x 12 cm  –  £1350

With this figure, I focus on one simple posture: straining against the wind, with  the upper body bent forward,  and her hair blown back.

Thus, this posture is a metaphor of the effort and determination involved in resisting and fighting difficult circumstances:  to sail bravely, stubbornly or foolishly against the wind. The strength needed for that attitude in life derives from being well grounded, and connected to the earth, just  like this short-legged woman.
